With Halloween here, caked on make-up is the norm. If you’re doing any funky Halloween looks and need some good tips on how to quickly remove your makeup at the end of the night OR just need some tips to use on a daily basis, then keep reading!
It is very important to wash your make-up off at the end of the night; clogged pores are almost inevitable when you don’t. To limit your chances of break outs, clogged pores and congested skin, see some of my favorite products I use to remove my make-up below. These tips and products will make the process less painful and easier to complete.
Oil cleansing/Cleansing Balm:
After removing the coconut oil with water or just massaging the oil on my face, I follow-up with a make-up wipe. I do feel as though make-up wipes can be a little harsh for the skin. This is why I recommend using an oil before going straight onto the skin with a wipe. (if you prefer to skip wipes, you could just use the oil and remove it with water). Many wipes are too tough on the skin, horrible at removing makeup and are not nourishing what so ever.
I recommend the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Makeup Removing Wipes. These are my holy grail make-up wipes. They are the least irritating, most inexpensive make-up wipe I’ve found that does a great job at removing make-up.
After using the wipes and before using a cream cleanser, I physically exfoliate my skin with some sort of exfoliating cleanser. (This is not to be confused with a chemical exfoliator. I can dive into that topic later)
*Avoid large exfoliants like fruit pits and nut shells since these have a tendency to cause micro-tears in the skin.
I prefer exfoliators that really scrub my skin and get those last bits of undetectable dirt from the skin without damaging my skin.
If you have sensitive skin or do not wear much make-up, you can skip the step or only use a exfoliator a few times out of the week.
My favorites are the Nip + Fab Glycolic Scrub Fix and the Proactiv+ Skin Smoothing Exfoliator.
After these steps, I proceed with a cream cleanser and complete the rest of my skincare steps. Once you find products or a routine that works for your skin, this process shouldn’t take long to complete and you should start seeing cleaner skin almost instantly. As a person who wears make-up almost daily, I live by these steps and my skin is more manageable because of it.
Hopefully these tips were helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like any additional information.
