Preparing for Summer: My Top Goals

3/16/2016

  • HOT BODY – Lose those last 10 lbs..
    • Like Drake says, I’m just trying to drop those last 10 pounds preparing for summer!
    • Develop a solid meal plan & fitness routine that I will enjoy and will keep me on track
  • CLEAR SKIN! – nobody wants to be wearing tons of foundation in the hot summer just for it to melt off your face
    • Really clear my skin and remove any dark spots (face & body)
    • Go back to my in-depth skincare routine (peels, microdermabrasion, masks, etc.)
  • $$$ & FUN – time to save money so I can splurge on a few vacations for summer and actually enjoy spending time with family and friends
    • Start planning a trip or two to really enjoy my summer
    • Increase my monthly savings
  • Looking BOMB! – have to admit I’ve been very relaxed when it comes to my fashion sense these past months. Just buying a few items here and there and not really taking much effort in how I dress.
    • I really want to focus on building my attire for summer: heels, sandals, tops, shorts, dresses, etc. Tired of wearing the same clothes all the time :)
    • Really start putting different outfits & lookbooks together to share on my blog/YouTube
  • DREAMS & Aspirations – I really want to continue working hard on my career goals.
    • Become more consistent with my blog and YouTube content while enhancing quality
    • Also focus on my current career goals: look into going back to school (summer school?), really focusing on personal online training to grow my technical aptitude and skills

So these are my overall goals for the summer that I am really trying to start focusing on now. Please let me know if you would like a detail plan on some of these goals and I will be happy to write a blog post or create a video on it. What are some of your goals for summer?

How to go Vegan/Vegetarian

11/6/2015

There are numerous reasons people go vegan or vegetarian. I was a vegetarian for a full year in high school, and on and off since then.
I sometimes try different vegetarian/vegan dishes, even raw vegan dishes/restaurants even though I am a full meat eater right now.

**Check out this interesting raw vegan pizza I posted on my snapchat (also @tiffanyalesha)**

It was actually amazing!! I got it from -> Loving Hut. Love this place. Quaint, quiet and delicious!

Anyways.. Even though I am not fully vegan, I actually enjoy eating vegan cheese, it can taste like the real thing, has better macros and less upsetting to my stomach.. While I was in the vegetarian section of the grocery store searching for this cheese <- a young woman approached me asking my opinions on being a vegetarian/vegan and how do you ACTUAL transition to not eating meat?

That’s a good question isn’t it! If you’re so used to eating burgers, wings, nuggets everyday how do you actually transition to eating non-meat products? My response at the time – take it one day at a time. Since then, I thought of some helpful tips to try when transitioning to this new lifestyle:

  • 1. RESEARCH – the internet is your savior here. Research the thousands of recipes and restaurants available to you on the internet. Read reviews on favorite vegetarian/vegan products in your local grocery stores. Check out some fellow vegan/vegetarian YouTubers/Bloggers.

  • 2. Plan ahead – start trying to pack your lunch and meals ahead of time. Think about what you eat on a daily basis. How can you satisfy yourself and eat those same types of food items on a daily basis without meat? Look for substitutes and alternative, but delicious recipes. You want to enjoy what you eat on a daily basis, not dread it.. That’s how you remain successful.
NOTE: This does not mean you go out & eat all the chips, cookies and snacks that you like! Just because you are going vegan or vegetarian, does not give you the excuse to overeat junk and processed food all day. You can still be an unhealthy vegan/vegetarian.

  • 3. Stick with it! – try to make a goal to see how long you can go on your new lifestyle. A week? Two weeks? A month? Try it out for a certain period of time before you give up. Changing your lifestyle and sticking to something new can be tough; to be successful you must be consistent. Then sooner or later, it will be a piece of cake, you won’t be as tempted and you will see how you can still enjoy some of your favorite foods without meat.

If you know me… you know I LOVE to eat. I’m currently in between moving and haven’t had much time to make my own food; therefore, I have to resort to eating out a lot. Unfortunately, fast food does not always have the best of choices. When I go out to eat, I make sure I check the macro-nutrients (usually using google or myfitnesspal). I like going with low calorie & high protein choices. And try to stay away from sugary/high calorie soft drinks, bottled water is your best bet. Here are some of my top somewhat healthier fast food choices.
