Tips & Tricks to Stay Fuller Longer & To Curb Cravings

I love to eat! But unfortunately, I’m trying to drop a few pounds so I’m trying to be more restrictive with what I eat. I’m cutting my calories and trying to pick healthier choices. To be honest, I am always hungry! Always! I crave everything throughout the day and it’s hard to give into those cravings and continue to eat when you’re trying to lose weight. I think the biggest challenge for me with losing weight is definitely my diet. I can work out every day if I really want to, but being better with my diet has been quite harder recently. I’m sure we all at some point craved food we know is not good for us (excessive pasta, french fries, cookies & ice cream for me)
Here are some of my tips and tricks to help me stay fuller longer and help me steer clear of my cravings throughout the day.
  • NUMBER 1 TRICK!!! – Water! Drink until you can’t drink any longer, then when you feel like you have to go to the bathroom every second, drink some more J We all know how important it is to drink water and stay hydrated, but I use it to trick myself into being full. The more water I drink the more full I feel and the less I want to stuff myself with food. I am trying to drink at least a gallon a day these days. Con – you will be going to the bathroom a lot!

  • Veggies – load up on veggies. Along with drinking tons of water, load up on veggies. Low calorie veggies. Anything you can eat a lot of without tons of calories to fill you up. Trying drinking a bottle of water and a bowl of veggies and see how much you are still willing to eat after the fact. Some may rather enjoy fruits and that is also an option (just be cautious of the sugar). Some favorites of mine include: spinach, asparagus, broccoli, lettuce (or just a big salad).
  • Gum – sugar free gum that is. This does not help with keeping you full, but could help with your cravings when you’re longing for something sweet and just to have something to chew on until your next meal.
  • Give into your cravings?? – Yes and no. If you are having real cravings and just cannot resist, give into them! How? By making healthier versions of your favorite foods. No, do not go and eat a tub of ice cream whenever you are craving it, but think about what will help your cravings but still keep you on track. Below are some examples:

Protective Hairstyling: Natural Hair, Curly Hair, Braids, Twists, Buns

10/2/2015

WHAT IS A PROTECTIVE HAIRSTYLE?
Typically for me, a protective hairstyle is a heat-free hairstyle used to conceal my ends and “protect” my hair from heat damage, friction, environmental effects, etc. A protective hairstyle is usually low maintenance and can last anywhere from a day to a few months. This could include braids, twists, buns, up-dos, etc.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Protective hairstyles are used to minimize the “wear & tear” on your hair. Without using heat to create a hairstyle, doing excessive tugging, pulling, combing of the hair and concealing your ends, you have a greater chance of encouraging hair growth and length retention.

For me, I usually stick with easy & quick buns for the busy work weeks, sometimes braids/twists that last a couple of weeks (great in the summertime) when I want something to last a little longer and cute up-dos when I want to dress it up but still keep my ends concealed.

Here are some very cute, easy & unique protective hairstyles that are similar to the things I do to my own hair or will inspire some of my protective hairstyles in the future!
